Chappie casts and director.
(From L-R: Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver,
Sharlto Copley & Neill Blomkamp)

Chappie, a movie directed by Neill Blomkamp, you might not know him but he's famous with his previous works like District 9 (2009) and Elysium (2013). Yeah, all have one thing in common, it's all sound futuristic, sci-fi and robotic stuff. Main casts consist of Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley (as Chappie) , Sigourney Weaver, Hugh Jackman as antagonist character and the whole movie (more like 80%) are being influenced/inspired by this South African rap-rave group called Die Antwoord; Yolandi Visser & Ninja.

"The principal charm of the film arises from Chappie's ears, which prick up and droop like those of a titanium rabbit." - Anthony LaneNew Yorker

Chappie is a robot who was created by Deon (Dev Patel) using spoilt robots that were meant to help police forces. Chappie was very new, almost like a newborn baby, he learns about the world from his creator, Deon and also from both his mom and dad (who kidnap Deon & Chappie) because they need to pull off a heist of their own.

Yeap, they are both rappers.
South African rap-rave group called Die Antwoord

Ninja and Yo-Landi, who have a major part in the film, are an acquired taste. If you can't stand rappers, if you can't stand their attitude and the way they talk and act, you're going to hate the film. They're such a central part of the plot there's just no way around it. But if you accept them for who they are, realize these people exist (for real!), and go along for the ride, it's not so bad. Yea they barely speak English, yea it's all slang, yea there's some ridiculous moments, but you know what, I had fun watching them. I got it. I almost felt Blomkamp was addressing the question of "how do gangsters exist?" What kind of world are they raised in where they believe this is the only way? Why are they taught to act like that? - Alex Billington, firstshowing.net

Mummy & Daddy to Chappie

One of the 'gangsta' scene where Chappie try to steal a car

Well, towards the end, Chappie changed from being a bad robot (influenced by his gangsta dad) to a good and clever robot ever since Chappie 'lost' his mom and almost, his creator.

Yo, S W A G !

Oh well, I rated this movie 5.5 out of 10, lots of okok scene, pastel colours appearing in most graffiti walls and ghetto area/objects, robot but trying hard to act cool, lots of foul language (not suitable for kids or teenagers) & etc... Hmmm...but other than that, it's ok la.. This movie really made me hate Hugh Jackman a lot, his character. He is willing to do anything just to prove he's better than Dev Patel. But towards the end, the story ended wasn't the way I thought it was. What happened? Well, you'll have to go catch it in cinemas near you! :P But for the meantime, check out their official trailer below!

Well, I guess that's all for Chappie movie review of mine!

Signing off~ Ciao!
