MOVIE: 破幕 EXHUMA

Exhuma is a 2024 South Korean horror film written and directed by Jang Jae-hyun and starring Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun [known for her role in the television series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God aka Goblin (2016) & The King: Eternal Monarch (2020)], Yoo Hae-jin and Lee Do-hyun [best known for his roles in Hotel del Luna (2019), 18 Again (2020), Sweet Home (2020), Youth of May (2021), The Glory (2022–2023), and The Good Bad Mother (2023)] and he's definitely one of my favourite Korean actor!

The movie follows a wealthy family in Los Angeles who calls upon a young couple of exorcists (played by Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun) to save their newborn child after a series of mysterious attacks. The exorcist duo soon realizes that the family is haunted by darkness from their ancestors’ grave. 

In their quest for answers, they seek the help of a renowned feng shui master (Choi Min Sik) and a funeral director (Yoo Hai Jin). Together, they embark on the task of excavating and relocating the grave in a remote village in exchange for a hefty sum of money, only to inadvertently unleash a deeply buried evil force. You will also get to learn some Korean folklore stories in between the show. 

The storytelling is great, visual and narrative clues nicely blend together ensuring all viewers can follow along. Do watch this in the cinema near you to find out the ending! 

And psst, did you know that the actors studied real rituals from shamans to accurately portray them in this film according to the director of this movie. Hence, huge respect & salute actors who pour so much effort and passion into what they do.
